Hey guys -
I'm a newbie on here and have to first confess that I'm not really a developer either. But I am an administrator for a small private school, and hence the defacto "IT" person. We have a new printer/copier (Sharp MX-2700N) that uses user authentication codes for each person (so we can keep track of print/copy usage by our print-happy / color-happy teachers!), and I am trying to get our one teacher with a Chromebook setup to use the printer. Have logged her into my Mac on Google Chrome and added the printer (which was already setup on my Mac) onto her GCP service. When we try to print now through GCP (either on my Mac or on her Chromebook), the copier starts warming up as if it will print, but then stops... I assume this is because it gets stuck when user authentication isn't identified.
I'm fairly motivated to make this work, not just for this employee but also because our school plans to deploy a new laptop lab of Chromebooks for our students by next school-year (late August)!
It looks from this thread as if user authentication is something in development for Google Cloud Print... can you guys let me know if this is anywhere near being available / working?? Or are there any other work-arounds you recommend?
Sharp also has a mobile app - Sharpdesk Mobile - which is working great on some of our other teachers' tablets, but unfortunately the app isn't supported on Chrome OS, so that doesn't help with this situation either.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer!
Thanks,
Valerie Barclay
