Hi,

I want to use Google Cloud Platform on my personal account, but the registration form only allows me to select the "Enterprise" type.
I tried to reach out support but they did not help. I even tried to create a completely new Google account and it stills offers only this choice.

Is it normal ? Any idea how to solve this ?

Best regards,
Julien

Hello Julien,

Are you trying to sign up to Google Cloud Platform from a European Union member country? If so, please visit this thread for my answer to a similar question.

Out of interest, is this due to regulatory requirements, or a business decision by Google?

Yes, I am from EU.

I would be interested in precisions too, from the linked topic, it is still a bit unclear to me.

For instance, as a professional developer, if I want to use GCE on my personal account for self-formation, without direct business objective, is it still considered "business" and allowed ?

Thank you,

It's probably because Google needs you to have a EU VAT ID for the billing. If you have one, you can sign up as a business.

I doubt it, because the "VAT ID" field is facultative in the form. And the "Enterprise name" help caption says "Legal address of your enterprise or domicile", which is rather confusing...
