Sounds like a good through too Eric !

Maybe another joint event with some Brighton Javascript Users too ? (maybe these guys: http://asyncjs.com/ ?)

There is another framework called vertex that appears to be a node rival, but is more x-platform/x-language (http://vertx.io/)

Anyone know the asyncjs guys ?

I'm sitting next to Prem at the moment who is the main AsyncJS guy, I
told him about the BP/FB night and he's interested in doing the same
for JavaScript. They have free slots in July if we wanted to do it on
an AsyncJS night...

I think the main appeal of Node.JS is the JS part. Lots of people who
just know JavaScript... After that the ability to do servers with lots
of shared state very easily (chat servers in a few lines of code) is a
pretty big draw.

There's lots of scope for using functional ideas in JS but also a lot
of cool ideas from other languages missing. I'd love to see the
approaches in some functional languages compared (without being too
smug :p) with Node.JS.

Sounds like fun!

Roy might be a good cross-over topic too:

And, yes, to answer Kingsley's question: we do know the asyncjs.com
guys -- that's Prem.

Cheers
