to Functional Brighton
Hi folks,

I went to Oxford for Fun in the Afternoon on Tuesday,

http://sneezy.cs.nott.ac.uk/fun/2012-02/

which really was great fun, with or without the pun attached.

I spoke to Conor McBride and he'd love to visit Brighton and do an FB
session for us (dependent types and Agda for beginners would be a
possible topic). I also spoke to Edwin Brady, who'd like to come and
talk to us about his language Idris,

http://idris-lang.org/

especially if we could find a Go tournament somewhere in the area ;-)

Am I right that we have things lined up for this month and next? Shall
I ask Conor if he'd like to do something in May?

I've also started talking to Conor and Jeremy Gibbons about hosting a
Fun in the Afternoon event here, possibly, but not necessarily in
conjunction with the University of Brighton and/or Sussex. Attendance
would be around 30-40, so not a huge effort involved.

What do people think about this? Eric? Who would you suggest we talked
to at Brighton/Sussex (I know know Martin Berger at Sussex, but you
were the only FP person I knew of at Brighton).

Cheers,

Miles

Bernhard Reus at Sussex might be another interested party; but Martin
would likely put him onto you.

This sounds great btw. My attendance at FB events has been suboptimal,
but I'd come nevertheless...

Oh, yes, I forgot Bernhard ... thanks for the reminder :-)

As penance you'll have to come and talk to us about superoptimized
Clojure compilers ;-)

What I know about that could be delivered as a "lightning talk" and
you wouldn't even notice... ;)
