Looking for suggestions.  A client is interested in a very light bicycle for a kid and wants disk brakes. It will have 451 size 20" wheels. I am looking for a 20" CF fork with disc brake mounts, seems like a scarce item.

Any hints?

TIA

Could this fit your build?

was there supposed to be a link there?  If so Gmail stripped it.

At 750g (albeit with uncut steerer) you may find that it’s possible to build something lighter with steel or titanium. I built a couple of kids’ bikes together with Tune and Schmolke (German manufacturers of lightweight parts) and I decided to build a ti fork for these, even though I usually am not a huge fan of Ti as a material of forks. Weight was around 440g. With everything being small and rider weight being low even that worked perfectly alright. Total weight with disc brakes and gears was just under 6kg, btw.

I'm fairly sure that Wound Up will build forks to custom spec with little or no upcharge.

Best
Michael

Michael, list:

Thanks for the note.  I did contact Wound-Up and they will build a custom fork but their machinery can not accommodate a fork shorter than about 360mm.

How it goes.

"I did contact Wound-Up and they will build a custom fork but their machinery can not accommodate a fork shorter than about 360mm."

It's probably not worth pursuing Wound Up for a new fork, but I have a 285mm one, so they have made them short enough in the past
No disc brake fittings, but they might be able to retrofit their brake mount. 1" dia 310mm long carbon steerer, ahead fit, 100mm dropout width. Picture here: http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q289/Draftwheelchairs/Storage%20Folder/PB201711_zpsdfe780f0.jpg

I didn't commission it, just came my way 6 years ago, cute but I've never used it. PM if interested.

As a matter of interest, is this a Road or BMX/Mountain project?

All the best,
Dan Chambers
