Hello List,

I want to make a frame from Columbus XCR tubing by silver-brazed lugged construction, for my 11-year-old son to ride the London Youth Track League on later this year.  Does anyone know whether their 28.5mm x 18mm oval chainstays can be squeezed flatter to work with a lugged 30 x 17mm lugged BB shell?  I'm prepared to do lots of socket-shaping if needed.

Thanks for any advice.
Happy Easter

Matt,If nobody comes up with firsthand experience, I'd ask Peter at Ceeway about this.  It's odd that both the 28.5 x 18 and the 30 x 18 stays are made from 24mm round tubing, so it seems like the 28.5 x 18 would fit a standard 30 x 17 BB shell if the 30x18 stay fits (which it does - I've done it many times), given enough "re-squishing."  But again, peter should know.

Thanks Alex,

I did email Peter at Ceeway about this, but I'm far too impatient to wait for a reply!  Just really wanted to get this build started.

Matt
