Are you near eugene/portland/seattle area and willing to ream or loan your reamer ??
I have an oversize seat-tube with a stuck Aluminum alloy post, I want to take out 1/3rd of the stuck post and put in a 27.0mm seat-post
Yes, I know I could just melt it out with Lye or heat, but tha would not leave it suitable for a 27.0mm seat-post
Yes, I know I could get a larger or smaller seat-post, in this case, this would not function as I need.
Currently a 25.6 is a loose fit, a 25.8 does not fit as it is slightly ovaled...

Thoughts/offers ??
I can pay or give you a pile of crowns/drops and such that I'm never going to use    =)

I think I will be in santa cruz/pacific grove and nevada city this coming week, so I'm expanding my search to anywhere between these and eugene   ...
Or renting instead of loaning, even paying postage OR buying the tool
Where would I buy a reamer cheaply, it only needs to be used once, and on aluminum...    but good enough to be a "clean" ream  ...

Thanks for any suggestions !!

You want to use a reamer to go from 25.6mm to 27mm?

   yes
It is aluminum, I thought a reamer is what I am looking for, I could easily be wrong !
It is al, not steel, so I was thinking an adustable reamer
I will be very happy to hear any alternative, especially if someone has the tool to do it

Unfortunately it’s not that easy.  A reamer is used to cut a final diameter but you can’t take away that much material with a reamer.  There are many stuck post removal DIY guides.  Your mileage may vary!

what about a brake hone or a ball hone ?
I dont think i would ever loan a good cutting tool. The good ones are way too easy to damage.

A brake/ball hone is not going to remove that much material.
Stuck seatposts are a pain but not impossible remove.

yes and... my original e-mail is dense with info.
I do not want to remove all of this stuck seat-post.
I just want to remove "half" of it's thickness
I want to leave a shim of a size that is not standard/available easily.
I have an idea of a holesaw (I know, too inaccurate) with an old seatpost inserted/somehow-fixed inside as a pilot...
not likely to work, but no better ideas yet.   SO
I might try to lye it out and make a shim

I was under the impression that (unfortuately?)  ball hones/brake/clutch cylinder hones take even less material out than a reamer...
I seem to be stimied again
and showing my ignorance as well    =|

This is/was not really a request to borrow a tool, more, I'd be happy to pay someone to do the job
( the borrow/rent idea was an after-thought/if possible implausible possibility)
