I want to communicate with my nexys2 board with fpgalink library I am using windows xp platform and xilinx ise to bulid fpgaling vhdl library .  I am using first digilent adept to progarmm fpgalink vhdl .bit file into fpga then replaces the dirver with libusb and want to use fcli utilty for FPGA communcation only .After that i want to answer some questions.

1)  Do fpgalink library  using digilent firmware or it uses it own firmware on nexys2 board.

2) after using fcli utility for fpga communcation is it replaces digilent firmware on usb eeprom on nexys2 .

3) after using fcli utility is nexys2 board is eeprom firmware replaced with fpgaling firmware.ie we unable to further use digilent adept ?

0) You don't need to do that - flcli can program the Nexys2's FPGA just fine on its own without needing to switch back & forth to Adept.

1) It uses its own firmware.

2) It replaces the Digilent firmware in RAM, i.e on next power cycle, the board will revert to the Digilent firmware.

3) You can backup the Digilent firmware if you wish, then overwrite the Nexys2 EEPROM, so the board will always power up in FPGALink mode. At a later date you could restore the backup you made of the Digilent firmware.

thanks for reply as i want to communicate with fpga with pc ,as i am learning cypress usb controllers and want to know how it works . not for programming pusposes as digelnet has it own api for cypreess prallel fiifo but their support is not good  and documentation is also poor   so why i am using ur api thanks for support and writting great software fo fpga novice users.

sorry for extra post is FCLI uitlity automatically trnasfer firmware to ram or i have to do it myself after buiding firmware and downloading throug fxload

It's all automatic, no need to use fxload. Just follow the Nexys2 quickstart[1] (linked from the homepage) and you'll be up and running in 15 minutes.
