Dear FS Members,

We have recently purchased a water test kit to monitor the PH and TDS levels of water used in our bakery facility.

The kit can measure

pH

MEASURING RANGE -2.00 ~ 19.99 pH

TDS:

0 ~ 100 G/L

What is the maximum permissible safe range for water consumption? Please let me know. Thanks

Kind Regards,

Alka Paul

Thanks Altaf. That allows for a lot more flexibility when water is used for commercial processes.

Hi Alka,

You may also want to review the latest RSB standards. See the detailed parameters from page 43 onwards in attached document.

Good morning everybody,

According to the updated version of 987/2013 Standard, the maximum allowed TDS level is 1500 mg/l.

Hi,

If that is the new limit for ‘natural mineral water’ or ‘purified bottled water’, we should take a moment to think of Ajman residents who get that type of tap water as a norm and find it unsuitable for even bathing. Several of them use bottled water for their daily shower.

Fact is that water with that level of TDS will probably have relative hardness in the range of 450 to 900 ppm, that will cause severe scaling issues in heaters and other appliances it comes in contact with. It will alter the taste of any thing you’re trying to bake/cook, and is very harmful in the medium to long term.
