Hello,

I want to simulate glass breakage in FDS. I use this inputs:

&OBST XB=0.21,0.211,3.387,4.1365,0.978,1.44, RGB=138,43,226, PERMIT_HOLE=.FALSE., SURF_ID='SKLO', DEVC_ID='TIMER1a'/ SKLO1
&DEVC ID='TIMER1a', QUANTITY='TEMPERATURE', XYZ=0.21,3.79625,1.15, SETPOINT=600.0, INITIAL_STATE=.TRUE./

and i want to set that the temperature 600°C or more have to last at least 5 sec. But I have no idea which input I should use.
I would be glad for any advice.
Thank you

Jana

There isn't a simple way I can think of to do this. One option that will be close to what you want is:

Have a DEVC monitoring temperature at the window and set LATCH=.TRUE. Use that DEVC to start a TIME_DELAY CTRL.

Have a second DEVC monitoring the same temperature and set LATCH=.FALSE.

Have an ALL CTRL whose inputs are the second DEVC and the TIME_DELAY.

This will break the window at the end of the time delay if the temperature is still high enough. This doesn't account for if the temperature drops far below the setpoint during the delay, but for your needs might be good enough.

One more word of advice -- set up a very simple test case to make sure this strategy works. If it doesn't, create an issue on the Issue Tracker. Having a simple case saves us the time setting one up. And these simple cases often wind up as examples in the User's Guide.
