Slack alternatives

I know Slack is the cool kid.  Know that there are more suited alternatives to opensource projects like f3. Here are two:

https://gitter.im/ (used by free code camp)

https://ryver.com  (not sure this will stay opensource and free in the long run)

We tried Gitter which wasn’t really used by anyone. Eventhough we didn’t promote it.

Hi Sascha, I found Gitter via this article which made me think it would be a better match than Slack in the long run for a project like F3. In any case, the fact that Slack dumps every 10K messages makes it useless to build a knowledge base.

When we started using IRC, we didn’t even have a backlog. Thus 10k lines are way enough to read the backlog for the last few days. If there’s anything that needs to be documented, it should be either here on the Google Group or even better in the docs at https://fatfreeframework.com
