Hi forum,

Being a newbie in this regard, and quite interested in switching from VBA to C# as I started with a solution following most of the steps, I was inclined towards using the nuget package for ExcelDna.Intellisense, upon debugging the same as I have the Excel started, upon the line of code:
        public void AutoOpen() { IntelliSenseServer.Install(); }
I find the following error being faced:

Runtime [Error] Unhandled exception in async delegate call. : FileNotFoundException - Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel, Version=15.0.0.0 ...

While I am using a COM Reference Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel, which on my machine I find to be the Excel 16.0 Object Library.

Currently using Excel 365.

While haven't found much help while Googling see if any of you experts can help in this regard.

Have also tried out the <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.Interop" Version="15.0.0-preview2" />

and the project file is as follows:

<Project Sdk="Microsoft.NET.Sdk">

    <PropertyGroup>
        <TargetFramework>net6.0-windows</TargetFramework>
        <ImplicitUsings>enable</ImplicitUsings>
        <Nullable>enable</Nullable>
    </PropertyGroup>

    <ItemGroup>
        <PackageReference Include="Excel-DNA" Version="1.6.0-preview4" />
        <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.IntelliSense" Version="1.6.0-preview4" />
        <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.Interop" Version="15.0.0-preview2" />
    </ItemGroup>

</Project>

But no luck.

Thank you for reporting this.
I see the same problem, but don't know what's wrong yet.
I'm planning to make a new set of preview versions soon, and will check this more carefully.

I should add that I only see the problem when targeting .NET 6.

For .NET Framework I don’t see this problem.

I've uploaded some new test versions.
Could you please check with these versions, targeting "net6.0-windows":

    <ItemGroup>
        <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.AddIn" Version="1.6.0-preview5" />
        <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.IntelliSense" Version="1.6.0-preview5" />
        <PackageReference Include="ExcelDna.Interop" Version="15.0.0-preview3" />
    </ItemGroup>

It seems to work fine for me now.

Hi Govert -- quick FYI that with preview5 building for .NET 4.7.2 now also places the packed dll into a \publish subdirectory in the output folder. Not a big deal, but not sure if that was intended.
