My Skype phone account was cancelled by Microsoft, so I bought a cell phone and used the "help" function to set the thing up. Rarely can I speak to a human, and these AI who replace the humans seem not so intelligent. In fact, they're generally not very helpful and extremely inflexible in their responses. AG

But it's not funny! I need real answers to real issues, and so far AI seems a ruse, just another method for greedy management to increase their profits. AG

With Walmart the problem is with the phone, such as icons which are non-functional. This happens when old functionality isn't properly tested when new versions are "certified". With Microsoft, it's really awful software plus AI. For example, in MS's new version of Skype, you get a list of numbers called, but without the names of parties called, and there is no way to delete contacts. So unless the user has the list memorized, the user is outta luck. And with MS, it's impossible to speak with a human. AG

Stop using Skype it’s discontinued.

And the Internet is also just a silly fad that people will soon get tired of. And so is television. And motion pictures that are talkies.

Are you telling me that as of June 3, 2025 your only first-hand interaction with AI has been with Walmart's phone service?!  You think that represents the state of the art?!

No. Of course not. I'm referring to a specific usage which has made a particular situation considerable worse. AG

Not exactly. Microsoft has a very imperfect clone available. It's really awful. I pointed out some of its egregious shortcomings. What I liked about Skype is that one doesn't need a cell phone to make calls. AG

Even though those "help" bots are described as AI, they're NOT. They seem to be conventional computer programs which have inflexible rules of responses. Microsoft is a culprit in this confusion. And its programming of its clone of Skype is just shameful. I once prematurely hit the call button before finishing typing in the phone number. Now I have a "contact" I can't delete. And my friend's phone rings when called from Walmart's phone, but not when called from the clone of Skype, which always sends me to voice mail. I'd like to inform them about these bugs, but there no one to speak with. AG

Many alleged AI's are just ordinary classical computers which use speech in their replies. They're used by corporations seeking to enhance the bottom line by reducing payable employees on "help" sites. These alleged AI's clearly fail the Turing Test. However, I just met a real AI on a Microsoft site which does seem intelligent. AG
