Just about one hour ago the Nancy Grace Roman telescope was successfully launched from Cape Kennedy, its mirror has the same diameter as the Hubble telescope, 2.4 meters, but its field of view is 100 times larger. Roman is optimized for the near infrared so unlike Hubble it cannot see the ultraviolet, and unlike Hubble it will not be in a near earth orbit, it will be at the Lagrange 2 point, like the James Webb telescope. It won't be fully operational until late this year or early next.
