Researchers in Japan claimed to have hooked a Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (FMRI) machine that used a 7 Tesla magnetic field to a neural-net computer and the computer was able to make a pretty good guess about what a human subject was looking at just by examining his brain. Take a look at the top row of images in the picture below, that's the picture the human that was in the FMRI was actually looking at, the bottom row is the picture the computer generated indicating what it thought the human was looking at. I think they're pretty close.
