MAGA hypocrisy regarding free speech

Trump and his boss Elon Musk call themselves "free-speech absolutists" and yet when the Associated Press continue to refer to a body of water as "the Gulf of Mexico", a name that has been used since the 16th century, and not by another name that Trump had recently dreamed up, he barred a reporter from the AP from entering an Oval Office event. 

Trump says he wants a "NICE NEW LAW" that would make it a criminal offense to publish an article or a book that contains information obtained from anonymous sources even if that information is completely true. The truth is not a defense. 

Trump says "One of the things I'm going to do ... I'm going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money. At some point I am going to sue some of these dishonest authors and book publishers, or even media in general".

When a Democratic Representative conducted an online seminar educating immigrants on their constitutional rights, Trump's "border czar" asked the Justice Department to investigate whether she violated the law by telling the truth. 

Elon Musk, that savior of free speech, sued a media watchdog group that CORRECTLY mentioned that advertisements on X (a.k.a. Twitter)  had appeared next to neo-Nazi content.

Musk sued Unilever and CVS for what he called "an illegal advertising boycott of X". 

After Wired magazine published an article correctly disclosing the identities of six young engineers associated with DOGE,  Musk wrote on X, "You have committed a crime."

Free speech for Musk and Trump simply means we can say what we want, including blatantly lying, you have the right to shup up. They're nazi russians fsb assets, that will end badly.
