Actually this may help Harris more than an endorsement would, and Bezos won't end up in one of Trump's gulags if he wins.

The Washington Post published an article saying that we, the editors of the newspaper, were all set to endorse Kamala Harris but our billionaire boss made us stop. I think that would convince more people to vote for Harris then if they just published an article endorsing Harris. And I have some sympathy for Bezos's reluctance to endanger his life, Trump's best friend Vladimir Putin has demonstrated that he it's perfectly willing tothrow billionaires into his Gulag if they demonstrate insufficient enthusiasm for his regime, and I have no reason to think that a fascist who loves Hitler like convicted felon Donald Trump would hesitate to do the same thing if he gets back in power.

I don't think this will have much of an effect either way.
However, to me things are simple: there is partisan media, and there
is factual/objective media. That a partisan media outlet endorses a
political party is perfectly fine (it is their very reason-d'etre).
But a media outlet that endorses a political party can not claim to be
factual/objective.

Sure it can, depending on what a party stands for. AG

In the 19th and 20th centuries newspaper endorsements were very important but not anymore. I think a non-endorsement and a story about that non-endorsement will have a greater punch then an endorsement would. Now the effect on the election will be tiny but no longer very tiny.

And in the US it has NOT been standard operating procedure for the losing presidential candidate to claim that the election had been a fraud, that all started with coup d'état instigator Trump, and not in 2020 but in 2016 even though he won (the electoral vote not the popular vote). In 2016 Trump insisted that if it wasn't for it being a crooked election  he would've won by even more. Forget about being a sore loser, Trump is a sore winner.

Not to be a pest, John C, which I am, but I stand with Guilio. Bezos, like everyone else, covers his ass, financialy. I agree with Bezos on the need for us setting up Space Cities/Habitations. One of Bezos professors at Princeton was physicst Gerry O'Neil. So, there may be a few thing we can agree upon? Maybe? Guilio, following you on X, of course. and have read ypiur latest, Irrational Mechanics. In it, you quoted Oxford physicist Tim Palmer from his 2022 book Primacy of Doubt. Looks like you 2 boys discussed this back in 2022? Excellent books. Keep up the writing, GP!

Be well, Ad Astra.

Thank you for liking my book! Yes, we discussed these things when the
book was in draft and John even persuaded me to edit/add a few things
here and there. I very highly recommend Palmer's book, especially the
last part.
