This Iranian drone is using consumer grade 2008 technology, it has a Nvidia Jetson board in it with a Tegra processor, you can buy one on Amazon for as little as $249. So stuff like this is inevitable. I don't see anything inherently unethical in using AI in a weapon because a smart bomb will kill a lot fewer people than carpet bombing with dumb bombs such as occurred during World War II.
Speaking of Smart bombs, apparently they failed to destroy Iran's nuclear ability and only delayed they're bomb making by between 3 and 6 months, but you can't blame AI for that. Twelve 30,000 pound bunker buster bombs were dropped on the Fordo installation which is 250 feet underground, but satellite photos show only 6 closely spaced impact craters because two bombs went down each hole, which is pretty impressive. So the AI did its job but the explosive in the bomb did not because the underground chamber did not collapse. Experts now say many more bombs would be needed to be dropped to collapse that chamber, but the US only had 50 such bombs in its inventory, now it only has 36 because another 2 were used to bomb another Iranian nuclear site with similar mixed results. Intelligence reports also indicate that most of their enriched Uranium 235 was moved to an unknown location shortly before the bombing.
Fordo's electrical installation was completely destroyed because it was above ground, and you don't need bunker busters or Stealth B2 bombers to do that. You can't run that place without electricity so it will need to be rebuilt before the Iranians can get back to work making nuclear bombs.
