Yesterday President Trump and his defense secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the country’s top military brass to come to base in Virginia for an unexplained meeting. Some had to fly in from  Germany, Brussels, Japan and South Korea. The meeting was televised. Hegseth introduced the president and as Trump walked to the microphone he was met with stony silence from the military brass.  Trump seemed very surprised by that and said:

"I've never walked into a room so silent before"

That remark produced a few small chuckles from his generals so Trump said:

"Don't laugh, don't laugh, you're not allowed to do that. You know what? Just have a good time. And if you want to applaud, you applaud. And if you want to do anything you want, you can do anything you want. And if you don't like what I'm saying you can just leave the room. Of course there goes your rank there goes your future”.

Trump then gave an improvised 73 minute speech. He talked about the things he always talks about, Joe Biden's autopen, the biased news media, he talked about tariffs and the time he went to a restaurant in Washington for dinner and the injustice of not winning a Nobel Peace Prize. This time he did not mention the thrilling time he got stuck on an escalator and the heroic way he overcame that tragedy. Trump said nothing he had not said a dozen times before until he got to minute number 44 when he said this:

"I told Pete [Hegseth], we should use some of these dangerous cities [in the USA] as training grounds for our military."

Ignorant, as ever, Trump didn't know it traditional for the military NOT to applaud any politicians speech.  You'll not that military sitting in on State of the Union addresses never applaud.

Apparently Donald Trump considers himself to be a world class naval architect and an expert on the electrodynamics of stealth technology because he ordered admirals to travel thousands of miles to Washington so they can hear his speech where he explained to them the best way to design and engineer a ship. Trump wants to start building battleships again, a technology that was obsolete 80 years ago. The following is a brief excerpt of his 73 minute long speech:

"It is something we’re considering, the concept of battleship. It’s something we’re actually considering. Nice six-inch side, solid steel. Not aluminum, aluminum that melts if it looks at a missile coming at it. Starts melting as the missile’s about two miles away. Back then, when battleships sailed with destroyers, oh, nothing could stop them. Some might call it ‘old technology,’ but when you look at the guns mounted on those battleships, you can’t just call it old technology. No, those ships, they don’t make them that way anymore. With the tens of billions of dollars from tariffs, we could build many battleships. I am a very aesthetic person. I don’t like some of the ships you’re doing aesthetically. They say, ‘Oh, it’s stealth.’ That’s not stealth. An ugly ship is not necessary in order to say you’re stealth."

Believe it or not that was not quite the stupidest part of the speech, I think it was when he explain to hundreds of admirals and generals how to walk down stairs:

"We were not respected with Biden. They looked at him falling down stairs every day. Every day, the guy's falling down stairs. I said it's not our president. We can't have it. I'm very careful. You know, when I walk downstairs for -- like I'm on stairs like these stairs, I'm very -- I walk very slowly. I'm very careful when I walk down stairs, like I'm on stairs. Nobody has to set a record, I just try not to fall because it doesn't work out well. A few of our presidents have fallen and it became a part of their legacy. We don't want that, need to walk nice and easy. You don't have to set any record, be cool. Be cool when you walk down but don't -- don't bop down the stairs. So, one think with Obama, I had zero respect for him as the president, but he would bop down those stairs -- I've never seen, da da da da da da, bop, bop, bop, he'd go down the stairs, wouldn't hold on. I said, great, I don't want to do it. I guess I could do it, but eventually bad things are going to happen and it only takes once."

And to think, they said Joe Biden was senile!
