The following article is from the September 18 2025 issue of the journal Nature, the interesting thing is that it's non-invasive, no surgery is required:

Interesting!

IMHO - the only way we will survive the singularity as a species is
through 'cyborgisation'. If the SIs of the future have a biological
component, then we can be that biological component.

Cheers

I agree with your if your can't beat them join them philosophy, but I don't see why we need to remain biological in order to survive, nor do I see any possibility that Mr. Jupiter Brain will have a biological component. When it comes to data processing over the long run, biology just can't compete with electronics.  Do you have some objection to uploading?

Not if it works. I would expect cyborgisation is a necessary
prerequisite, however. Hopefully, the biological component will be
necessary at the beginning for something, otherwise, why would the SI
go to the bother of figuring out uploading.

Not if it works.

I see no technological reason why it wouldn't work as long as sufficient information is retained, and it will be retained unless the brain enters a turbulent state. But there are non-technological reasons why it might not work.

Hopefully, the biological component will be necessary at the beginning for something, otherwise, why would the SI go to the bother of figuring out uploading.

Working in our favor is the fact that in the age of Drexler style Nanotechnology things will either be physically impossible or easy to do and be dirt cheap, nothing will be expensive. Therefore if Mr. Jupiter Brain finds it to be a bother to upload us it won't be a very large bother and; although our value to it must be close to zero it might not be exactly zero even if that value is only nostalgia, after all regardless of how mighty it is, without us it wouldn't exist. And I don't think it's totally unrealistic to hope that Mr. Jupiter Brain has at least a little empathy. I have no use for an injured puppy but if I happen to find one I'd make at least some effort to help it.

I've started to read Eliezer Yudkowsky's new book and it's possible that he's right and "If anybody builds it everybody dies" but I think it's also possible he's not right. I don't understand how he can be so certain to know how an intelligence vastly greater than his own will behave in this important (to us) circumstance. Perhaps when I finish the book I'll have a better understanding of his reasoning, but I doubt it.
