ABIA SPUR
The following is an email from the Community Engagement Director for the ABIA Spur Project. There will be a presentation on January 15 at 7 PM at the St. Elmo Elementary School about this project:
I sharing information related to a study currently being conducted by the City of Austin Urban Trails Program and CAMPO, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. We are studying the Bergstrom Spur corridor, a 6-mile long, 50-foot wide former rail line located in South Austin between Vinson Drive on the west end and 183 on the east end to explore possibilities for converting the space into a trail for walking and biking, with potential for transit. I would love your help in spreading the word to your neighbors, family, and friends who live, work or commute in the area.
The project is currently in the first phase of community engagement and we have a survey and online open house to learn more and provide input. In early 2020, we will be sharing possible concepts for the trail and ask for more feedback from interested residents and groups.
If your group would be interested in a short presentation from one of our project team members, please let me know. We are scheduling community presentations throughout January – April 2020. Feel free to call or email me for more information.
Have a great day,
Claudia
What would you do with a former rail line in South Austin?
The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and the City of Austin are studying the Bergstrom Spur, an abandoned rail corridor stretching from southwest Austin at Vinson Drive to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport, and want to hear your thoughts on converting the corridor into a well-utilized, safe, and interconnected east-west corridor for walking, biking, and potential for transit.

COUNTRY CLUB CREEK GREENBELT WORKDAYS
Buzzmill Coffee on Town Creek Drive has adopted the section of Country Club Creek in the CCC Greenbelt. Creek Adoptrs are a Keep Austin Beautiful program. Buzzmill will be sponsoring a workday on Sunday January 19 at the Country Club Creek Greenbelt. We will assemble at the end of South Pleasant Valley Road, south of Oltorf, and work from 11 AM to 2 PM. We will be working on improving the mountain bike trail and removing invasive species.
It's My Park Day is on Saturday March 7. Buzzmill will sponsor this workday event. Please keep your calendars open to volunteer.
ROY GUERRERO PARK ROW
Some recent real estate activity that will affect Roy Guerrero Park was discovered by Linda Guerrero. There are two properties by 183 that somehow did not become park property (see file GROVE PROP COA PROFILE). Development of these properties will require granting access on park land. Further investigation revealed that there is still existing Right of Way in the park to extend Grove Blvd. all the way to 183 (see file GROVE ROW COA PROFILE). I will be asking the EROC Contact Team to approve a resolution asking the city to vacate this ROW, in addition to the vacation of the ROW discovered during the Ballpark zoning case.
COUNTRY CLUB CREEK TRAIL SIGN PROJECT
There is now a funded project to provide trail signs for the CCC Trail. Details of these signs can be found at the following link:

EROC MEETING MONDAY MAY 18 6:30 PM
There will be a General Meeting of the EROC Contact Team on Monday May 18 at Ruiz Library, 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Please mark the date and plan to attend.
4530 E. BEN WHITE
The Austin Fire Department has objected to the proposed rezoning of the property at 4530 E. Ben White to Mixed Use (NPA-2017-0021.01). AFD objected because hazardous materials are stored on the Cypress Semiconductor site, and this property is with 1200 feet. AFD also objected to the rezoning to Mixed Use of the property at 5101 E. Oltorf for the same reason (NPA-2018-0021.01). The applicant for that property withdrew the request for Mixed Use. This decision by AFD will complicate the EROC request for public access through the property from Ben White to the CCC Greenbelt.
PARKER LANE LOW INCOME HOUSING APPLICATION
Foundation Communities has applied for Housing Tax Credits for a proposed low-income apartment complex at 2105 Parker Lane (the former Methodist Church). See attached letter from Foundation Communities.
2401 E. OLTORF
A site Plan has been approved for the property on the south side of Oltorf east of Willow Creek (SP-2019-0529C.SH). This will be an affordable housing development.
