Welcome to. the English OER listserv!  
This is a space for new and experienced users of Open Educational Resources (OER) for college English courses to post questions and share open-licensed resources specific to our discipline. 

If you are just getting started exploring the terrain, see the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges OER Initiative (ASCCC OERI)'s  OER resource list for English. To post and read about general OER issues, consider joining the CCCOER Advisory group.

This listserv is moderated for appropriateness. Current moderator: Anna Mills, faculty at City College of San Francisco, English Discipline Lead for the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges OER Initiative. 

Guidelines (adapted from the CCCOER guidelines): 
  • Posts to the list should relate to open-licensed English OER, not copyrighted materials. Resources shared should be public domain or Creative-Commons licensed.
  • Cross-posting is discouraged. If you wish to share a post from another listserv, please forward it and add a note explaining the relevance to this list.
  • When starting a new post, choose a clear and concise subject line that describes the topic.
  • When replying to posts, please only respond to the group if the response is relevant to the group. Otherwise, respond to the sender.
  • Generally speaking, posts should deal with one topic at a time.
  • If you are seeking some sort of general information, such as which composition textbooks best represent diverse identities, volunteer to gather all the responses, recommend that others contact you directly, and then summarize the responses for the list. This will help keep list traffic more manageable.
  • Include an email signature with your institutional/organizational affiliation so that others know who you are.
