Stereoscopic rendering?

Is it possible to get a second camera option, one that is a clone of the main camera but just has a variable x-offset from that camera? OR, if not a second camera, would it be possible to re-render the same scene with the same camera but offset the camera's position? So as an example if the main camera is set at 0 position, the "second" camera or pass position slides to -1 unit on the X, giving a left and right eye view. Basic stereo.
