The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Northeast Area, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, is seeking highly qualified candidates for a permanent full-time Research Scientist (Plant Physiologist/Soil Scientist/Agricultural Engineer) for the Adaptive Cropping Systems Laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland. Salary range of $94,199.00 – 183,500.00 per year plus benefits. This position affords the opportunity to interact with a highly experienced and diverse multi-disciplinary team to evaluate crop responses to climate change and develop adaptation strategies and decision support systems; investigate and quantify bio-physical interactions within the soil-plant-atmosphere system with respect agricultural systems issues including climate stress and resource availability; conceptualize, develop, and improve mechanistic crop and soil models; design and execute growth chamber and field experiments to acquire agronomic data and test hypotheses related to genetic (G), environment (E), and management (M) knowledge gaps; develop research plans and conduct experiments with the overall objectives of the Management Unit; Disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed journals and provide consultation, both internal and external to ARS.
