Thanks everyone who filled in the Doodle poll.  The winning day/time is:

         Sunday 29th September at 11am

It's for everyone who's involved in DoES Liverpool (if you're reading
this then you qualify) and particularly folk who want to help set the
future direction of the space.

As mentioned in the last email, the most important agenda item will be
deciding what to do about our finances.  See
https://github.com/DoESLiverpool/somebody-should/issues/1919 for more
background on that.

If there's time, I think it would also be good to cover how more of us
can get involved in running the space; and/or how we make decisions
about the running of the space.

See you on Sunday!

Adrian.

Thanks everyone who came along to the Future-gazing meeting on Sunday.
It was great to see a mix of new, old and in-between members in attendance.

I've written up some notes, and hopefully caught the more salient points
we covered.  Feel free to chip in if I've mis-characterised or missed
things.

I hope it's of interest to all the community, but the finances and price
rises section at the start is likely of most importance.

They're on the wiki here:

Cheers,

Adrian.

Hi Andy,

I read through the notes and can give my own feedback as a potential new member. I did not attend the meeting, but I paid a visit to DoES a few weeks ago because I am  eager to find a good makerspace.

The one thing that struck me, and what I remember the most from my visit, is that the space gave the impression of being disorganised. I understand there is always an element of organized chaos when you have many people working in close quarters. But in particular the central rented desks did not do much to make the space welcoming for me.

I think adding more storage for your members could help, so that they can store their projects elsewhere than on their desk.

In terms of finances, I say charge what you need to be profitable. You will not scare away members.

Regards,
Magne

We talked about having a follow up to this meeting roughly a month later.
As is the tradition I've set up a Doodle poll for times on the next two weekends (25th Oct / 1st Nov)

Hi, I've booked the event space all day and evening on 2nd Nov for an event and rehearsal and the evening of 1st Nov for a tech rehearsal for it.

Hi Everyone

I've just written about this in the Weeknotes, but thought I ought to copy it here for completeness.

The first one, or Future Gazing Part 2, is going to be on Sunday 27th October from 2pm - 4pm (the most popular choice in Chris H's Doodle Poll), to talk about issues relating to running the space, including finances and price rises. It would be great to see as many people as possible, and if you weren't able to get along to Future Gazing Part 1, you can catch up by reading Adrian's summary, and take a look here for the complete Google Group thread relating to this.

See you Sunday!

Hi all,

I'll just add for those as prone to error as I am that daylight savings time ends on Sunday (my calendar says) so there's going to be an off by one in the hour.

Cheers!

Alex
