Notes:
The one species that truly justifies its name is the White-crested Laughingthrush (Garrulax leucolophus). Infact its genus name Garrulax, in latin literally means “To chatter ("gar·ru·lous"= To chatter). From time to time, the entire flock breaks into loud, boisterous calls, which resemble laughter. While moving about, they keep up a continuous chattering “conversation” with each other. The chorus of their cackling laughter is loud enough to be heard from a large distance.
This shy species, exhibit strong bonding amongst themselves and are the most sociable of the laughing thrushes. This is probably attributed to their weak flying ability and non-migratory status. They are also one of the cutest birds with their conical head resembling as if topped with vanilla ice-cream :-)
