Tikvah Tablet Channels the Charles Murray Racism: Can Someone Book Tickets to Tennessee for Alana Newhouse and Bari Weiss?

The Law and Liberty article drips with praise for the perennial racist Charles Murray, emphasizing his “scientific” examination of Standardized Testing and its degradation of Blacks and Hispanics as Stupid Thugs:
Murray’s first “truth” is that when whites, blacks, and Hispanics “take tests that are related to cognitive ability, their group results have different means,” and that these tests are pretty good predictors of job performance, especially at the upper end of the pay scale. Since Murray is famous for making controversial arguments about IQ, genetics, and race, it is important to emphasize that most of his analysis is based on aptitude tests such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), the Armed Services Qualification Test, and graduate admissions exams rather than IQ tests. The racial gap measured by these tests has narrowed significantly since 1970 and the size of the gap changes as children get older, indicating that such “cognitive ability” is hardly determined by genetics alone.
Murray’s second “truth” is that African-American and Hispanic males commit violent crimes far more often than do white and Asian males. (I say “males” because they are responsible for the overwhelming majority of such crimes.) This is hardly a startling fact. But in the current debate over mass incarceration and “the new Jim Crow,” it often gets buried in the rhetoric. Murray focuses on the most serious offences, especially murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. He looks at a wide variety of measures, including arrest rates in major cities, reports by African-American and Hispanic victims of crime, and New York’s database of non-fatal shootings. The racial differences are consistent and huge.
I would like to point out that it is not Affirmative Action that is the problem today – but Trumpism and the Alt-Right Fascists.
But Cancel Culture has always been the strategy of the Right Wingers, as we can see from recent events in Tennessee.
The great Conservative Never Trumper Charlie Sykes has written eloquently about the situation:
He begins the post with an epigraph from another Conservative Never Trumper, Atlantic Editor David Frum:
“I became worse.” That’s how double impeachment changed him, Donald Trump told a conservative audience in Dallas last weekend, without a trace of a smile. This was not Trump the insult comic talking. This was the deepest Trump self. And this one time, he told the truth.
Sykes has now come to embrace using the term “Fascism” to describe Trumpworld:
The Trump movement was always authoritarian and illiberal. It indulged periodically in the rhetoric of violence. Trump himself chafed against the restraints of law. But what the United States did not have before 2020 was a large national
movement willing to justify mob violence to claim political power. Now it does.
Through the Trump years, it seemed sensible to eschew comparisons to the worst passages of history. I repeated over and over again a warning against too-easy use of the F-word, fascism: “There are a lot of stops on the train line to bad before you get to Hitler Station.”
That’s a landscape for which a lot of pro-Trump writers and thinkers seem to yearn.
That is very much where the Tikvah Tablet mindset is right now, as it continues to ignore the depredations brought on by the Trump Fascists, and very cunningly support many of the movement’s key talking points.
As Sykes has wisely understood, Tennessee is a good place to see how this is working in real time.
First, we have the case of the COVID vaccine coordinator being fired over her attempt to make sure kids get their shots, and help protect the rest of us from Pandemic spread:

Firing the vaccine coordinator was a very smart move!
But this was not important enough to be mentioned by the bastard daughters of Zalman Bernstein:
The top vaccine official for the state of Tennessee said Monday she was fired after an argument over vaccinating children against coronavirus.
Now Dr. Michelle Fiscus, a pediatrician who has served as the state's medical director of the vaccine-preventable diseases and immunization for two years, said she is afraid for the people of her state -- which is already lagging in vaccination against the virus.
As we will soon see, they have much bigger fish to fry!
Second, we have a Free Speech issue involving a Tennessee teacher and baseball coach (!), who was fired for teaching an article from The Atlantic by our friend Ta-Nehisi Coates:
Indeed, I only just learned about the firing from MSBC host Joy Reid, but the matter has been going on since last May.

So, what is considered “indoctrination” in Tennessee?
It is firing someone speaking out on behalf of the Slaves and their descendants, and giving free rein to KKK public memorials!
We recently posted a link from March about Sullivan County Central High School social studies teacher Matthew Hawn, who was reprimanded officially for having his social studies class read “The First White President” – an article by Ta-Nehisi Coates in The Atlantic.
The Board of Education voted 6-0 to uphold the written reprimand of the 16-year tenured teacher & assistant baseball coach.
The article also says Hawn was verbally warned last fall about a video he made about white privilege, the existence of which conservatives generally hate to acknowledge, especially in a school that’s almost entirely white.
We’ve now spoken with a source who tells us the story does not end there, and that in fact Hawn has been hit with a letter recommending his termination in the wake of another incident brought to the attention of school brass by the same student and their parent, who took exception to a lesson taught by Hawn involving a female poet Kyla Janae Lacey who used language the source says was almost entirely censored.
The source says Hawn received the letter within hours of Tennessee Republicans passing their bill to censor what Tennessee teachers can teach about race and systemic racism – because if anyone should be deciding what can and can’t be said about those topics, it’s the group of almost entirely white legislators who refuse to remove the KKK GRAND WIZARD bust from our capitol, and the Governor who was found to have dressed up in a Confederate soldier outfit in college.

After posting the racist Law and Liberty article praising Charles Murray, I got yet another White Snowflake gem from Weiss herself:
It tells the very sad Anti-Woke story of poor Maud Maron – yet another victim of the Left Wing mob:
The suit, which you can read here, claims that Maron was “discriminated against on the basis of race” by her employer, Legal Aid Society, and her union, the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys. It claims that both defendants “published knowingly false statements in furtherance of ideological and political motives divorced from the core functions of Ms. Maron’s employment.” In other words: it says she was forced out of her job because of her political views and her race, a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
What did Ms. Maron do?
“I am very open about what I stand for. I am pro-integration. I am pro-diversity. And also I reject the narrative that white parents are to blame for the failures of our school system. I object to the mayor’s proposal to get rid of specialized admissions tests to schools like Stuyvesant. And I believe that racial essentialism is racist and should not be taught in school,” she told me.
That’s right, Weiss found a prime example to “prove” Murray’s racist point on Standardized Testing.

Maud’s deep belief in civil rights and liberties for all Americans drives her work as a public servant and an advisor to FAIR. Her lawsuit aims to protect civil rights and liberties and promote a common culture based on fairness, understanding, and humanity.

The issue of Standardized Tests is a fraught one, and people have the right to debate the issue. But there must be no assertion of racial superiority and White Privilege, as is the case with Charles Murray. It would have been worthwhile for Weiss to mention this point in her many tirades against those fighting this racism.
We can see this racism in action on FOX News, when Murray appeared with Neo-Nazi hero, and renowned White Snowflake, Tucker Carlson to commiserate over the loss of White Supremacy:

Weiss has emphatically tied herself to this White Nationalist movement.
We should remember that the privileged Maud Maron, like others in the Bakke cult, will eventually find out what the courts decide about her case. She has every right to use our legal system to get justice. And I am sure that she has ample financial resources to take on the legal battle. It is quite unlikely that she will find herself in danger of being unemployed and homeless.
White Privilege is a wonderful thing!
But those who do not have such privilege are not doing as well in the Trump COVID era.
In the final assessment, Neo-Con reactionaries like Weiss are unconcerned with whether or not this country’s democratic institutions survive. All she cares about is Trolling the Libs. It sure pays those bills!
And her trolling might help in the Trumpian destruction of our country.

The New York Specialized Schools became the prize of the New York City Chinese community because they represent more than a pathway to success—they represent a kind of meritocratic opportunity that they, as low-income, non-English speaking parents, could aspire to for their children. An opportunity that was open to people like them, regardless of their social connections.
Why? Because although the SHSAT is notoriously hard—covering a wide range of subjects and requiring hours of studying—it’s just one test. “The test is hard, but the process is very easy,” said Yiatin. “The Specialized High Schools are simple in that you take a test, you score high, and you get a spot. If you live in South Brooklyn, Flushing, you have a shot.”
And for those who doubt the efficacy of a school system built entirely on a single test, the Specialized High Schools prove the skeptics wrong again and again, every year, becoming some of the greatest incubators of homegrown American talent in the country. Nobel Prize-winning physicist Steven Weinberg and biochemist Robert J. Lefkowitz, economist Thomas Sowell, actor Tim Robbins, sports journalist Mike Greenberg, politician Gary Ackerman, grocer magnate John Catsimatidis, and politician and convicted sex offender Anthony Weiner are all Specialized High School alumni. Bronx Science has produced eight Nobel Prize winners, the most of any secondary school in the world. Stuyvesant High School has produced four Nobel Prize winners, tied for second in the world. Manhattan Institute thinker Heather MacDonald commented that the Specialized High Schools “have nurtured nine Nobel laureates, hundreds of Westinghouse Science Talent Search winners, award-winning biologists and astrophysicists, astronauts, inventors, and captains of commerce.” She is right. They have justified their status as factories for New York City’s excellence.
