Hello Dataverse enthusiasts!

As you may have noticed in the other thread* we plan to talk about README generators during the community call on Tuesday, September 1st.

The team from DataverseNO will talk about URGE (Universal Readme file GEnerator).

The team from Borealis will talk about their README Generator.

The agenda is open for editing so please add whatever you'd like to talk about! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TCKOHYWmx8jr9i1YFPZ_91AE622HdlMo7AmU6rB-cUU/edit?usp=sharing

If time allows, we'll cover some news and perhaps preview what's coming in Dataverse 6.12.

Until then!

Phil

Whoops, sorry, I linked to the wrong previous thread. This is the one I meant, about README generators: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/JOtaJf07ZjI/m/o2Tts15LCAAJ

Happy September! We'll have the community call in about two hours, at 10am Boston time.

We'll be talking about README generators from DataverseNO and Borealis.

As usual, you can find the Zoom link at https://dataverse.org/community-calls

See you soon!

Thank you, Dag-Even, Ali, and Tameem, for fantastic presentations and demos of README generators!

I just added the recording to DataverseTV: https://dataverse.org/dataversetv

Here are the direct links!

Thanks!

Hello everyone - and thank you for letting us present URGE to all of you. Please find our slides attached to this email - and URGE is here: https://urge.usn.no/

I will ask Ahmet, our programmer, to look into the posibilities for making URGE an integrated, config-solution  for Dataverse.

All the best!

Dag-Even, Ali, Ahmet and Tom from USN

Thank you to the Borealis and USN teams for two great presentations and for making these useful tools available to the community.

URGE and the Borealis README Generator App seem to address many of the same needs. As sustaining reliable software over time requires considerable effort, this may be a good opportunity to explore collaboration, share expertise, and strengthen the long-term development of README generation within the Dataverse community. Please let me know if GDCC can help explore opportunities.

Best,
Philipp

Hello, Phillipp!

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Perhaps a dedicated meeting for this between those interested could be a place to start?

Best wishes

Dag-Even and the Research data team at USN

Thanks, Dag-Even! I think such a meeting could be a good start. Would you or Tameem from Borealis be willing to take the lead on this? We've just recently had a similar meeting, organized by Dieuwertje, to collect feedback and ideas on the further development of the KU Leuven / Dataverse Review Dashboard. Best, Philipp
