Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to invite anyone who wants to join a meeting on Tuesday June 23rd (16:00 CEST) to discuss needs/requirements/use cases in relation to the review dashboard (https://github.com/libis/rdm-review-dashboard) we developed at KU Leuven.

The main need we heard from many of you at DCM2026 was collection-level filtering support. We want to try and capture the use cases and needs and potentially figure out one solution that could work for all of you in some way. At a later point, I think we should also discuss review/curation tooling more widely in the community to see what can be consolidated or collaborated on, because we saw loads of exciting initiatives at the DCM this year on that.

Shared notes doc for the meeting (which also includes the meeting link): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nE0_THWagjsNK3DeiBBFc1lwb4O0JzIUZdbjWy2G0ps/edit?usp=sharing

Kind regards,

Dieuwertje

Hi everyone,

I have a hypothetical example:

1.  Setting Up an Embargo Period in Dataverse

We have a dataset in our institutional Dataverse instance. I'd like the metadata to be publicly visible, but the underlying data files to remain restricted until December 31, 2026 — at which point I'd like Dataverse to automatically release the data without any manual intervention.

Is this feasible, and what's the recommended way to configure it?

Let me know.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Florio

Hi everyone,

I have another hypothetical example:

2.  Automating Dataset Access Revocation Upon License Expiration in Dataverse

We have a dataset in our institutional Dataverse instance, currently restricted to authenticated users. The data license expires on December 31, 2026, and we need to ensure access is automatically revoked on that date — regardless of whether the license is renewed — to maintain compliance.

Is it possible to configure Dataverse to automatically lock the dataset upon license expiration, and if so, what is the recommended approach?

Hi Florio,

I don't think this has anything to do with the review dashboard, but what I think you're looking for are the embargo feature: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/user/dataset-management.html#embargoes and the retention period feature: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/user/dataset-management.html#retention-periods. (I'm not sure if the retention period feature does exactly what you want, but I think it's the closest to what you're describing in your second use case).
It might depend on what version of Dataverse you're on if these features are already available in your installation (and I believe you need to turn the features "on" in your configuration).

Kind regards,
Dieuwertje

Hmm, yes. Florio, I'm afraid if you look at https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/cQcsvWbyha4/m/pb2MkX_BAQAJ you'll see that both of your hypothetical example messages are in the same thread as Dieuwertje review dashboard messages (like she's saying).

If this were Zulip, we could simply move messages around to the right place. However, this is Google Groups.

Please feel free to create new, fresh messages for your hypothetical examples. (They are good questions but it's been busy here!) If you create them, please create new messages by emailing dataverse...@googlegroups.com rather than replying to any existing messages.

Thanks!

Phil
