Dear Dataverse-community,

we have a request from our researchers to add a metadata block for data about chemical reactions. In the specific case it's about enzyme catalysis and we want to map information from EnzymeML-files (an XML-based data-with-metadata-format basing on SBML, https://fairdomhub.org/programmes/66) to our Dataverse instance DaRUS. Before we start to work on a metadata block, I wanted to ask if someone of you already has such a metadata block or is working on or knows someone who is working on this (or knowing a metadata standard or schema we can build on).

In this context, I would also like to express our great interest in some place to discuss metadata blocks as mentioned in #6700. To our great regret we missed this years Dataverse Community Meeting.

Kind regards,

Dorothea Iglezakis (University of Stuttgart, Germany)

Hi Dorothea,

That's great news that you're working on a metadata block about chemical reactions. I don't personally know of anyone working in this area but especially since you mentioned missing the community meeting I wanted to point out to you and others that a new "flexible metadata" working group is forming.

The "GDCC working groups" announcement can be found here: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/EY0dduRj3Ac/m/EDcEQHLoAwAJ

Here's a direct link where people can sign up to the flexible metadata group and other groups: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LTLjLM5sR07SAEqO7u-QgRp-StO327WS2TdbR2KdPxY/edit?usp=sharing

Thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil,

thanks a lot for the fast answer and the links, I already put in my name in the flexible metadata group (and think about the large data group as well).

Kind regards,

Dorothea
