I am trying to decide on a clean room to purchase. One I have been
looking at is the Sentry Air Systems 24" portable clean room. Can
anyone recommend this product?

http://sentryair.com/specs/24in%20Positive%20Pressure%20Hood.htm

Can you recommend other clean rooms?

Thanks,
Dave

You can get much larger ones for much cheaper on ebay, but they are used, and huge.   It all depends on what kind of space you have to work with.   If you have the area to put it in and the manpower to move it there I'd go the ebay route.  If not, then you'll be paying a premium, but the machine will work.

Hi, we have enjoyed our Sentry Air unit  for 2 years now. It's a 30" one and
I cannot see working with a smaller one, as you need extra room to put down
your tools (as moving in and out through the vertical clear flaps too many
times can be dangerous) and to store some necessary regularly- used items
(such as gloves).

Also we forgot to order lights, but fortunately the top is clear plastic and we
used a double 30" flourescent and 2 spotlights for good light. It came in 3
very well packaged boxes and assembly was 'fairly' easy.

I highly recommend this product. It was about $3300 including a extra set of
filters, delivered to Northern Alberta all the way from Texas.

Our % of successful jobs tripled over using inferior methods, after getting this unit.
So if you want to be a real lab, you need something professional like this, IMHO.

We have not tried or tested any other devices. I had a look in Deepspar's
lab, their clean cabinet had a giant filter at the back as opposed to overhead,
like the Sentry ones. (accomplished the same thing tho') :)

Good luck.

Mike, thanks... I'm looking for something more mobile. I've seen some
of the larger ones and I don't think I want to go that route. But
I'll keep an eye out on E-Bay and see what's out there.

Another note. I also use the SentryAir system as I needed a smaller more portable unit.  Good unit. My only complaint is that I didn't get the 30" and one of the screws was too short.

Take the most cost effective option, we all know that you really don't
need one for data recovery. I use one just for the sake of saying I
have a cleanroom when customers ask. It really makes no difference to
the outcome at the end of the day. Unless you need to preserve a HDD
for evidence of course.

I use a Waysafe 2: http://www.waysafe.co.uk/products.htm#2 It has more
than enough room for all my tools and drives etc.

Good luck!

Oh one other thing, check to see if you have any companies in your
area that sell second hand medical equipment. That's where I got
mine : )
