Have a seagate 500 gb internal HDD, its detecting in the bios but showing 0 Bytes in BIOS,

How could that happen ? Is it that somebody formatted in lowlevel in an improper way. or is that some firmware issue thats on 500 GB 7200.11

Can somebody tell me what to do ?

Sounds like the 0lba seagate bug that affects 7200.11 & 7200.12 drives.
Have you tried connecting via terminal to confirm its not the pending bug?

Seagate 7200 has 3 issues

1, 0lba - drive is detected in bios etc
2, drive not detected in bios
3, pending bug

The 3rd you need pc3000, atolo or sd doctor to fix.

A seagate drive with the pending bug will stay busy & will not initialise. You can check it via terminal it will just keep repeating the same lines over & over.
I dont know the fix as i only own a ddi so far. But i do know to fix it you need either a p3000, atola or sd doctor.

Tried with  http://arduino.cc/en/Main/USBSerial To make sure Serial communication is proper,
Good thing is it also has 2 led for RX and TX to verify data communication,
other good thing is it has supporting driver that was the main reason i choose this.
Driver can be got from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm Installed now working fine
Tested Serial communication with Fusing RX and TX - Good (REF http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3450)

Now, nothing (No garbage value or No Value , and NO response for Ctr + Z ) is showing in the terminal after the HDD is powered up and the motor comes to rest, tried all the options like removing and plugin the pin again.

Tell me one thing, Can I do that removing wire keeping powered on, I guess so.

Any suggestion what further ....

But when I disconnect the drive and reconnect It shows

Boot 0x10M
Spin Up

Does this means serial connection is correct

But If I Press CTR Z no response

Its kind of crazy, Suggestion / Thoughts Pls ..............

Ive not seen that cable you have got before so i cant say if its compatible or not.
First thing i would try is on another working seagate drive & see if you can get terminal working? If that works then you know its the other drive & not what your doing.

As far as cable is concerned, Its essentially USB to Serial.

I have heard before about shorting the two read channels to unlock
terminal but usually its to do with bsy bug & not being able to access
terminal to run the fix. Might be worth looking into?

A quick search on mhddguru forum for shorting pins came up with some
info:

ST500DM002

BIOS Info:
Vendor: ST_M13FQBL

Looks like LBA 0 Issue

Serial Connection made, but Terminal is not showing any output.

But I dont get any error like this LED: 000000CC

Is this Terminal locking problem, does Terminal locking problem happens for these models and FW number. Also you can give me reasons about What that Error means ( LED: 000000CC ).

What are the pins to fused, Is there some logic to find it on any board or is this board specific.

If Somebody has the picture of this board, can share it.

If its not a Terminal locking issue, Whats the issue then that we are dealing with ....
