Dear Sirs,

I have LaCie RAID NAS drive model number: INNS04-4200-LAC.
Drive has recently failed with very important data on it.
I can not access the data area or  web management console of the drive.
The drive is not detectable any more.
I tried  with LaCie utilities from LaCie web site (LaCie Network assistant and IP configurator)  they also can not detect the drive.
I connect the drive to a router, also without results.
All the lights on the drive are green, the drive is starting, but it's not detectable.
If I reset the drive with the reset button, I'm not sure what will happened to the RAID and to the data after the reset.
Please advice what I can do from this point to recover my data.

Best regards,
Tareq

IF THE DRIVE IS STILL FUNCTIONAL STOP USING IT OR TRYING TO RESTART IT, SOMETIME YOU ONLY GET SO MANY CHANCES AT THE DATA BEFORE YOU DESTROY IT!

We charge an evaluation fee of  $50 payable by check, Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

DOWNLOAD/PRINT FORMS HERE:

MyHardDriveDied/Data Recovery Agreement Form.pdf

MyHardDriveDied/Credit Card Authorization.pdf

Overview of the Process

We do an evaluation of hard drive for $50 after which we can tell you what is wrong with the drive, the probability of recovery, and if possible we will  provide you a list of recoverable files. This process takes a 5 to 7 business days to perform. If we are able to recover the files, the $50 fee is deducted from the data recovery charge. Our standard price for ALL data recovery is $800 per a drive plus parts if needed. Here are the details for recovery:

The Evaluation

We have about a 96% recovery chance and our $50 eval fee is cheaper than the cost of acquiring another hard drive to test with. We have extensive parts and equipment and do an exhaustive test on the drive that takes a week after we receive it. If you would like to have us do the eval then please print and fill out that forms below and send it in with your drive so we have the contact info when the drive arrives. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

* We do exhaustive tests of your drive to determine the exact problem BEFORE spending a lot of money to find out what you CAN'T recover!

* We have the same FORENSIC EXPERTS working on your hard drive that reassemble drives for legal cases!

* We use write blocking systems to provide integrity to the drive so additional damage does not occur!

COSTS:
Standard Desktop/Laptop IDE/SATA Drives
We charge $800 for a standard IDE/SATA hard drive recovery. The only additional charge is if parts are necessary. On some drives, we need what is called a donor drive. The donor drive is a MATCHING hard drive that we have to locate and purchase specifically to break it down for parts. It is very necessary to match the drive exactly. Because of this sometimes the drive costs more than the same size drive on the shelf at the store. We will let you know if it is necessary to obtain parts after the evaluation.

USB MEMORY STICKS or Other Devices
We charge a $50 evaluation fee to review the items, but since there is a difference in the way the device works the pricing is not fixed. The average price for rebuilding a USB memory stick is around $200 depending on the type of damage. Other items need to be reviewed during evaluation to know what the type of damage is and what the cost will be. You will be contacted after the evaluation and details will be discussed.

RAID 0 or RAID 5
If you have a Raid configuration we charge that price per a drive in the RAID array. It is based on the number of drives and the size due to the fact rebuilding RAID is so much more difficult and requires much larger quantities of space and time to perform the recovery. In most cases, all drives, including the good ones, have to be imaged, the bad drive rebuilt, the array reassembled in software, then extracted as a final image, after which the data is extracted.  Other items need to be reviewed during evaluation to know what the type of damage is and what the cost will be. You will be contacted after the evaluation and details will be discussed.

Returning the Drive and Data
If we are able to recover your data, we will ask you either for a destination drive you want us to restore the data to and ship it back to you, or we can purchase one locally and charge you the price of the drive to return the data to you on. If you require DVDs or something additional there is a charge for that and it appears on the forms.
Return shipping via UPS ground is charged to the customer.

Forensic Recovery - For Legal Court Cases
If you have a drive is used in a case, and write blockers are required to keep it clean and the drive is stored in the safe while not in recovery to maintain chain of custody.  Please indicate that in a note with the drive.  This will be kept separate from other hard drives and treated differently.  Doing recoveries with write blockers is quite a bit harder and extra care is required. These recoveries are $1200 plus parts as described above and will take about 5 - 7 days to tests. Please do not forget to put a note with the drive itself that says Forensic Recovery so we can contact you with details!

That’s what happens when you have automation…. Sends out pricing to the group…

Do you have a photo of the LACIE?  And the Drives. I have done a lot of them, I just need to see what it looks like on the outside and inside.
