If so, WD used a proprietary cable to connect it to USB. The connecter on the controller looks like a cross between an eSATA and a double-wide small USB?
You need the cable for the drive. The PC3000 has been upgraded to the WD's and Samsumg's that have a direct USB interface on the controller. But the Samsung HDD uses a conventional small USB connector.
The FDI has a USB port in the front of it.
But the bigger problem that I've found with these drives is that they spin up and present a "CD drive" to the computer. At this point you run a utility to decrypt the contents. Then the drive's contents are available for imaging/access.
I have brought this issue to CPRTools and they may be working the ability to deal with the "CD drive"/password issue with the next release of the firmware for their PSIClones.
If the client followed the instructions when they plugged it into the computer for the first time, they created a passphrase for the drive and installed the passphrase software on their computer. The drive doesn't come with a CD, and I couldn't find a download for this drive on WD's website (the software that lets you initiate the passphrase process). It's possible to format or delete the software from the "CD partition" of the drive. Then you are stuck.
Does this help?
