Dear Prateek

Normally there are only two list, which is followed globally rin context of journal ranking: One is Thompson Reuter and Next is ABDC Ranking. While thompson reuter is giving impact factor of journals and is available only through web of science (Subscription required), the other one ABDC Ranking is too having globally acceptability. ABDC Ranking can be downloaded freely through its website.

Only these two are the best ranking which is globaly accepted. I am enclosing this year Thompson reuter ranking list along with impact factor enclosed as an attachment.

Hope it may have help you.

I'm facing a problem which any researcher face sooner or later...Publishing in a Journal with impact factor.

Now the problem...On searching web i came across various versions of impact factors...

I have seen journals which claim an Impact factor of 3 or 4 and when i checked the journal articles...they were 3 page articles which even a primary school student can make using google....(i can attach those papers...which are by v good university professors...but i dont want to)

No doubt i can download list of impacted journals from Thomson reuter or Scimago....

But how to ascertain correct impact factor of different journals
I have seen people mentioning their journal articles being published in impacted journal and claim API scores....(when you search those journals on scimago..they are nowhwere)

Sad but true

Please Guide...for the benefit of all

PS: My university is asking for 2 publications with impact factor (Thomson Reuter) greater than 1  along with my thesis.

Dear All,

As I heard about the impact factors, that Thomson Reuters is the genuine one.
At the same time, no such guidelines are suggested either by MHRD or by UGC for impact factors and so, many of us (authors and as well as selectors) are using the easy route of writing papers in JIF or UIF type factors.

Sadly, the API guidelines of UGC has made more dent on Indian academics than improving it :-(
