Hey Culturebots -

Just a quick reminder from your humble editor that PRELUDE 2007 is September 26-29 at the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center of The Graduate Center at CUNY. I'm one of the co-curators alongside Dr. Frank Hentschker (CUNY) and Geoffrey Scott (NYTW)

PRELUDE '07 is the fifth annual festival and symposium celebrating and discussing the very best of new and unconventional theatre being created by NYC-based theatre artists and companies.

PRELUDE '07 features work from Adam Bock, Christina Campanella/ Stephanie Fleischmann, The Debate Society, Kristen Kosmas, Laboratory Theater, David Levine / CiNE, LightBox, Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental, John Moran, Aya Ogawa / knife, Inc., Annie-B Parson / Big Dance Theater, Andrew Schneider, Mark Schultz, Rachel Shukert / The Bushwick Hotel, Ranbir Sidhu, Kameron Steele / The South Wing and the TEAM.

Panel discussions this year cover a range of topics from new trends in dramaturgy to the challenges of bringing experimental work to mainstream audiences. Panelists include Adam Bock, Thomas Bradshaw, Eric Dyer, Melanie Joseph, Richard Nelson, Jim Nicola, Alex Timbers and Mac Wellman.

Also this year PRELUDE features a very special program, SPOTLIGHT JAPAN, which pairs three progressive Japanese playwrights with like-minded American directors to present the first English-language presentations of their work. Participants in SPOTLIGHT JAPAN include Mikuni Yanaihara with Daniel Safer/Witness Relocation, Okada Toshiki with The Play Company (Playco), and Masataka Matsuda with Josh Fox/International WOW.

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is located at 365 Fifth Ave at the corner of 34th St.
