Hornets

Anyone who uses the Thames Path between here and Abingdon, there is a hornets nest in the tree directly next to one of the wooden bridges that crosses the swift ditch.  It is unavoidable as the entrance to the nest is at hip height and there is no other way across the ditch due to dense undergrowth.  3 of us cycled home that way yesterday afternoon and all of us were stung.  Have contacted the local councils (OCC and VWHDC) and both deny having responsibility for this public footpath.  The game continues......

I checked out Hornet Way this morning. At 06:45 there was noticeable activity - one hornet coming or going every couple of seconds. I got through OK but wouldn't recommend it. Not good for the nerves!

I had another look yesterday evening. The hornets are still pretty active.  
Is anyone actually risking going this route at the moment?  I've decided not to for the time being.

The hornets appear to have been dealt with. The tree looks blackened and some kind of spray has been used. I saw no hornets there this morning so I reckon it’s safe once more!
