Two separate forums? Really?

In the long run, this will certainly become confusing.
I would like to see cruiser treated in one forum and think Emux should decide which one it should be.
What's your opinion?

We can use any one of these:

- Google Groups (here)

- GitHub Discussions

And close the other? Which do you prefer?

You can write in both with login or email.

I prefer github because of much better handling and writing. You can paste pictures from the clipboard into the text and much more. Handling is similar to the Kurviger forum. Also the look and feel is much better on a mobile device.

The Google group should really be closed in my view and everyone should move over to Github. The registration process is done once in 5 minutes. You don't have to be a developer to participate there.

The handling in this google group is disastrous, especially on a smartphone. You can't reply there because the buttons are not visible and you have to switch to desktop view every time, which is cruel on a smartphone.

On Github, you can categorize topics neatly, have feedback buttons and, most importantly, the ability to edit your post again.

not to forget: in Github you can clearly highlight sections (add as quote) in an answer to refer to directly, either by clicking on a button or using a shortcut..
long story short: everything is better and more efficient in Github

(anything new requires leaving the old behind :) )

Generally better to have 1 place as a forum, so to not confuse users and split the discussions.

Cruiser's finances do not allow hosting a forum on private server, so a free solution is needed.

(even BRouter and OsmAnd use Google Groups as forums)

Google Groups had "edit" in the past, but they removed it.

Okay - why not use Google Groups? For me it's good enough.

I created the GitHub repository because:

- Arch Linux AUR package for Cruiser needs a directly accessible URL (see here)

- In the future Cruiser may become open source!

So we thought to also try the GitHub Discussions.

This is why John's excellent Voluntary theme has not yet been integrated into Cruiser's download manager.
(need to find a directly accessible URL instead of cloud)
