In V. 3.0.3 I wanted to test the map design and then when setting back on standard I could not open the local maps any more and the map layers disappeared and how do I load again the Kurviger patterns and symbols?

... also the storage settings have changed. I would like to use the folder structure for routing files and map files like before.

Don't want to download the maps for every smartphone. I would like to download the maps on the pc and copy to an invididual local folder on the devices and then open the maps like before. Why is this not possible any more? For me, these are steps backwards that I can no longer cope with at some point. It was already hard enough to get used to the missing Kurviger Routing Engine.

... I would like to use the same folder which I have configured for Kurviger 1 pro and Kurviger 2 so that I don't need to duplicate the maps on the devices in different folders. Limiting the maps folder to a given path and not to a path which can be individually be defined is a waste of resources to my point of view. I have now downloaded a map, but it is even not shown in the local path and also not marked as green. This is probably because the file was downloaded into ../files/maps and the setting in the application is fixed to .../files.  Please enable again the individual selection of a certain folder for maps and routes.

... I guess the map is not shown in the menu because the file config file map-cruiser.txt was not created automatically. This happend probably because I change the menu while downloading the map. Do I now have to download again a 2GB file just to create this text file?

after downloading another map, the map layer menu is still greyed out.

Tom,
here is an attempt to comment on your remarks:
  • I only have one smartphone, so the download question does not arise for me.
  • Also having kurviger 1 and 2 still "in petto" and for these a common maps-directory, whose redundancy I gladly accept for an integrated cruiser solution, which promises me even a semi-automatic update
  • If you change the file structure during the download, it can of course lead to unexpected results
  • Map layer works for me

The disappeared menu can be made visible: Settings/Application/Menu/Advanced

Hi everyone,

The "Open ..." menu are available via "Settings | Application | Menu | Advanced".

So you can still open any external map and theme with the Android file browser.

Most users prefer simple solutions with integrated downloaders
and was asked all these years, instead of download via browser.

For more details please see the Download Manager topic:

@ Tom.
Any right-thinking user might completely agree with that. However as of Android 11 and above, this is no longer possible thanks to the newest Google android updates.

That is right, the only possibility for multiple apps to use the same map files,
is to store them in a public folder and open them with the Android file browser.

i.e. use the "Open maps" menu in the app
