Hi again.

Is there a BASIC compiler available for AIX?

I only found C++, Fortran and COBOL so far.

Thanks for the wonderful support that I've gotten so far.

Hi

There is Business Basic (BBX). But it's buyware. If you find GNU licence
Basic - let me know.

Don't forget Thoroughbred (www.tbred.com) which is also buyware.

Otherwise, look on the bonus pack CD that comes w/ AIX 4.3+...
...There's a copy of Visual Age Java (not the enterprise edition,
which is buyware). Not having played with it, I can't vouch for
it.

It sure looks like IBM thinks that Java should be the next BASIC.

You can always get python, perl, etc from www.bull.de (assuming
you don't wanna compile them yourself...)- There's a freeware
repository with stuff for AIX.

There is a free basic interpreter for unix available, it's name is BWBASIC.
I have source & binary version for Linux (came with my distribution) but
I couldn't find a binary version for AIX.

Both BBx and Thoroughbred are Business Basic dialect. There is a
recently launched initiative to develop an open source Business Basic.
You can find their web site at < http://www.bb2k.org >. I don't know
how much they have up yet, but they are looking for coders, testers
and documenters.
