Olive Healthcare Slashes IT Costs by Migrating to Linux OS
,----[ Quote ]
| Users in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) often have similar requirements
| in terms of every-day computing needs— a user-friendly operating system,
| office applications,
| browsing and email applications, and accounting software. Like many other
| enterprises, Olive Health Care also had a fairly simple work environment, and
| used the MS Windows
| operating system, MS Office applications, Internet applications (Web browsers,
| email clients, etc), and the PHP and MySQL-based ERP system. As far as
| hardware devices are
| concerned, the firm used the Epson and HP printers, and multifunction devices
| that are generally used by SMEs.
|
| Olive Health Care ventured into the world of soft gelatin formulations by
| setting up its first manufacturing facility over three decades ago. However,
| it was only six months back that the company realised that it could bring down
| costs by implementing Linux in place of Windows. “Linux is not just known as
| an efficient server operating system, but is now easily adaptable for desktop
| use also. We knew that migrating to Linux would also mean having to train our
| staff and acquaint them with the Linux environment,” states Vikram Chauhan,
| the IT manager. The firm started looking for a Linux-on-desktop solution
| provider, and the search ended when the Olive IT team interacted with Enjay, a
| provider of Linux solutions.

Add to that requirement 30 year+ documentation retention capability.
Thats what my company struggles with today.
Anything and everything in proprietary format is an unsupported cost burden.
The companies that sell proprietary solutions make their money
supporting stuff while you pay, then they abandon their product
some 10 years in after milking the system and you are left high
and dry unable to migrate.
The stuff I've done is as open as possible from text to HTML
and now open format ODF compliant that is supported by ISO standard which
will still be available in 50 years time.

Your crap working 50 years from now. :) You can't program your way out
of a paper sack. I see why you are talking about everything should be
free. No one would pay for your junk and expertise. ;)

Proprietary is a short-sighted path. What happened to companies that bet on OS/2?

A very good point, and one that needs more air-play.

There once was a master programmer who wrote unstructured programs.
A novice programmer, seeking to imitate him, also began to write unstructured
programs. When the novice asked the master to evaluate his progress, the
master criticized him for writing unstructured programs, saying: "What is
appropriate for the master is not appropriate for the novice. You must
understand the Tao before transcending structure."

They are now running Windows.

Yea, Jack has a knack for exposing Roy Schestowitz's little games.
He never fails to nail Roy to the cross and despite the tinfoil
brigade from TR attempting to salt the comment section by defending
their leader, Roy ends up looking like an idiot.
Something Roy is very, very good at.

So if thats the case and you are correct, why should you need to post
that here? Surely everyone would already know.
You are a liar, a trickster a deciever.

I'm not the liar here.
Your own words:
"Gary/Flatfish, so you go from claiming I blame Skype, get proved
wrong
and then go back to your flatfish tactic of audio quality.
Ok.
Don't like it, dont listen. I certainly wont listen to a trickster
or
deciever or liar like you.
Read the show notes if you feel the urge to go back to your Skype
lies:"
And here you are blaming Skype/ISP:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.os.linux.advocacy/msg/c23e2b2d3f287d5e?hl=en
"Well if people listen they can decide for themselves. I'm no sound
expert, but to me it sounds like issues either with the Skype
service or
connection issues with the ISP. "
Rope-A-Dope......
I'm running out of rope with this gasbag.
He's consumed 20 yards of the stuff already!
Your turn Snit!
Hadron?
Have fun!
When you finally puncture the gasbag and put him out of his misery,
please point him west so the surf over here doesn't start foaming
again.

The problem was either Skype or ISP. I don't know, thats why I can't say.
Read the shownotes flatfish.
