Greetings all,

My name is Greg, and I'm both new to the Chromebook and this group. So far, I've figured out how to get around my Chromebook using Chromevox, but I'm somewhat stumped when it comes to one thing... copying & pasting. Basically, with Chromevox active, the results I get when using Control-Z and all its friends isn't what I'm expecting and it's becoming mildly frustrating. I'm starting to wonder what I might be doing wrong.

Is anyone able to suggest a good Chromevox tutorial that's reasonably recent? It'd be especially useful if it goes over copying text, pasting text and other text manipulation skills I might need to know for Chromevox. Any tips or advice you might be able to offer might be helpful as well. Thanks in advance if you can...

Hello,
in general, ChromeVox does not interfere with the ctrl+z, ctrl+x,
ctrl+c and ctrl+v commands.
IN which apps are you experiencing these issues? The problem might lie
with the app or web page.
Best,
Felix

Hi Greg,

While using ChromeVox, press Search+S to start text selecction.
Select text with the arrow keys. Press Search+S again when you're
finished selecting text. Then press Ctrl+C to copy selected text to
the clipboard.

HTH!

Hi,
there's an important distinction to be made here. When editing text,
such as in Gmail or Docs, we can use shift plus arrow keys to select.
However, when we're navigating non-editable web content, these
keystrokes are not defined, which is why ChromeVox jumps in to give us
the Search+S way of doing it. Other screen readers use shift plus
arrow keys in that context as well, providing the illusion that these
are the universal keystrokes for selecting text, when in truth they
are two different scenarios, one in which you're talking to Chrome,
and one in which you're talking to ChromeVox.
Best,
Felix
