Hi, if this is aimed at teachers I feel it is far too basic. Perhaps what might need to be looked at are ways of integrating ICT into regular lessons, network and server issues or coding…just an opinion and feedback from colleagues, G

§ any idea how to backup a server? [1 Update]

Hi,
We've just got our new server running and going well so far....
But I was just thinking if we should back it up to an external hard-drive
or something so that if something happens we won't have to start from
scratch.
The content wouldn't be the main thing but the
settings/permissions/users/etc would be the important stuff for us to back
up.
Does anyone know a simple and inexpensive way to do this?
We running a windows 2008 r2 standard server.
Thanks in advance.
John

Data backup/restore is quite different from a bare metal backup/recovery.
Windows Server 2008 R2 will give you basic free functionality.

Hi All,
Volunteers have recently offered Camara Ireland some time and resources to
develop a new teacher training course.
We want to create a course that will support teachers and schools with some
of the basic technical barriers that prevent them from successfully using
ICT in the classroom. This course will be aimed at ‘non-techy’ people. It
will be designed to equip the participant with the key basic information to
get the most out of ICT resources in their school or classroom.
We want to make sure we are making a course that is relevant. I have created
an open Google Doc here
<https://docs.google.com/a/camara.ie/document/d/1ymCIZhCHNBs7pCQuNmIJ0prh4RK1_8GtKz-V4vCnFL8/edit>with
a basic outline. It would be fantastic if you could have a look and add in
other areas. For example, if you are the 'go to techy' person in your
school, what are the simple fixes that you repeatedly have to help
colleagues with etc.?!
Thank you in advance,
Steven

Hi John.
That server version come with its own backup software all you need is a USB
disk large enough to do a complete backup, when you go through the process
you can schedule a regular daily/weekly backup, the software will configure
the USB disk and once formatted you will not be able to use it for other
storage
Have fun
