Hi Gao,

I am trying to use the expression of housekeeping genes such as actin and ribosomal genes for normalization.

When I tried to use HUGO_symbol I got strange gene names
for example ACTB->entrez id 60, I found that Hugo_symbol is LOC115268.

When I searched for this gene name in HUGO database, I got nothing.
https://www.genenames.org/

Would you please let me know why HUGO_symbol have names LOC*

Thank you

Best,
Asma

Hi Asma,

Can you share the query you trying to run? Where exactly are you seeing the LOC* gene name?

Thanks,
Ritika
