Subject: [hydstartups] VC funding for start ups. Hope this helps
To: hydst...@googlegroups.com

Hey guys,

I came across a new VC company based in Tamilnadu with its corporate office in Coimbatore.

They are mainly into finance and investments sector. Two days back they got nod from SEBI to start a Venture Capitalist wing.
They are planning to fund around 30 startups with a total seed funding of 10  crore rupees. I saw their FB post which told that

"We look forward to build a self sustainable cooperative start up environment where startups can work on solutions for our clients, our stake holders and also for us."

This sounded very interesting and i dropped in at their office and had a conversation with one of their Investment Manager.
He told me that the company's main business is money lending, gold loans, mortgage loans , etc., The company after its conversion into corporation,
started investing and buying stakes in lot of companies in the core business sector. He also added that the company did not want to take risk by investing
in stock markets and instead, it has invested in the local businesses ranging from turmeric trading, lathe, transport, textile, auto looms, power looms, wind mills, petrol bunks to constructions, jeweler, etc.  He told me that they are very keen on funding start ups following which  they moved for the SEBI Clearance and they got it done.

Their main expectations are a vision and mission for the company for a period of about 10 years with prospects of financial stability by the end of the 3rd year (maximum). Another interesting and the most important point he told was about the plenty of opportunities available in the local market. He pointed out that most of the companies in which capital finance holds a stake don't have the competent IT infrastructure and hence the prospective clients come along with the Funding. He added that they not only provide funding but also open them to wide range of local markets and that is why they have posted self sustainable co-operative environment. He also pointed out that they even lack IT infrastructure. In fact, they have just put in place their in house technical team and working on their website. But the company owns a capital of more than 500 crores and is gonna venture as a bank with new RBI guidelines in place. Very strange and interesting.

They respond to FB wall posts.
