VyaakaraNa- Ayurveda-Yoga the triad of depollution sciences

 That the three fields of Indian tradition that are sensationally shaking the world : Yoga, Ayurveda and Paniniyan linguistics were considered to be a triad of sciences of TrikaraNa S'uddhi /sciences of depollution of Mind, Body and Speech.

 

The famous prayer to Patanjali reads as:

योगेन चित्तस्य पदेन वाचम्

मलम् शरीरस्य च वैद्यकेन

योपाकरोत्तम् प्रवरम् मुनीनाम्

पतंजलिम् प्रांजलि रानतोस्मि

 

Vakyapadiyam 1-147 reads as

 

कायवाग्बुद्धिविषया

 

ये मला समवस्थिताः

 

चिकित्सालक्षणाध्यात्म

 

शास्त्रै स्तेषां विशुद्धयः

 

This grouping of  these three sciences needs to be paid more attention.

But the focus in that thread was the identity of three Patanjalis.

Noam Chomsky is the modern linguist that has been discussed repeatedly in comparison to Paniniyan tradition.

 

Relation between Chomsky's linguistics, his psychology and his human biology is well known.

 

Field dealing with mind among ancient Indian sciences is Yoga. Ayurveda dealt with human biology.

 

Irrespective of the identity of the three Patanjalis,  validity of the grouping of VyakaraNa, Yoga and Ayurveda may be viewed from this perspective.
