I currently have my B2 connected to my Sonos system using their software which in effect sees the B2 as a NAS box.  This set up works well after sorting out a few drop out issues.

With the latest B2 Operating System there is the ability to use the B2 directly to play the Sonos speakers. However I live in a single storey long thin bungalow and following advice from Sonos I use their Boost WiFi box, which has been suitably placed to give coverage over the entire bungalow. In effect have a separate WiFi network for the Sonos system and a separate BT Whole Home System for our other WiFi uses, which is mostly internet based requirements, but which the B2 is attached to for upgrading purposes.

Following upgrading my B2 operating system to the 3rd December version it is now seeing all of the Sonos speakers including clusters of speakers for home entertainment room, but when I select a single speaker or cluster and click to play an album no music is forth coming.

I presume it is probably something to do with a network issue?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Have you any thoughts on this dilemma?

Hi Michael,

If NAS mode is working OK then the WiFi coverage sounds like it is sufficient.

Have you tried 'Scan' from the Sonos menu to make sure those units listed are 'real' ones (not phantoms). There is also a 'Clear Sonos devices' in the Settings menu (click on the COG on the web UI) and then click 'Scan' again.

Also do a Web Upgrade on the B2 as there is a Jan 11 2021 version which includes some changes to the Sonos software.

Hi Paul
I have now done the things you suggested and I am now able to select a particular Sonos Speaker or group etc etc. Via the Web UI I can select a Sonos speaker, select a CD to play, select play and the speaker then plays the CD. Selecting stop playing is fine and other functions look fine. If I stop playing before ending the CD and close the B2 down, upon restarting the B2 I can continue playing the original CD. However if before restarting the Sonos I select another CD from the B2, when I start using the Sonos again it continues to play the original CD and upon its completion then starts playing the second select, which is fine.

How can I cancel the CD that has been loaded down to the Sonos system without having to wait until it has finish it?

Many thanks for your help Paul.

Keep well, keep safe.

I think that your previous selection is stored in sonos app list, and you can clear list in sonos first then play your next selection.
I don't know how the interaction between the two work but check this out and see if it helps.

Hi Michael,

PK is right in saying the Sonos app has queued the CDs, so you need to delete the first CD using the Sonos app.

I have found if I play internet radio from B2 to Sonos and turn off the B2, the Sonos carries on playing the radio station even if stopped-started using the >II button on the Sonos.

Hello All,

I too had problems with my  B2 to Sonos connectivity with a stereo setup in my Living Room. This initially worked fine with the early classic original Brennan app setup but the latest version wouldn't allow me to play music from the B2 to the Sonos speakers. The app indicated that the Sonos Living Room stereo pair were paused and although the track was playing no sound ensued.

I eventually resolved this by firstly un-pairing the two Sonos speakers.

Initially I still could  not play to the Sonos speakers as the Brennan app still reported that they were paused. I think that one issue here is that the Sonos speakers (S1L's) are permanently on standby when not playing, they do not have a power on/off switch. Therefore if they have been used from the Sonos app and then paused the Brennan cannot "push" music to them.  The simple solution (for me anyway) was to un-pause the Sonos app content, allowing it to play and then select the the Sonos speaker from the B2 app and "hey presto" success, the Brennan was able to "push" music to my paired Sonos set up..

I'm hoping this will hold up over time and I'll report back if there are any changes.

Hi Paul

I am really pleased that Martin is looking at this.

I think Wil is onto something.  My stereo pair of Sonos One SLs intermittently work with my B2.  All older unpaired speakers seem fine.  The B2 app frequently shows that the stereo pair speakers are still playing, even though they are not.  At this point, it is not possible to send music from the B2 to the stereo pair.  I have tried various things to unlock this, sometimes if you wait long enough they "unlock" naturally.  I have not yet got a consistent solution. I am working on it.

Other than very occasional radio use, I only use my Sonos speakers to play music from the B2.  Hopefully Fred is reading this and might share his experience.
