Hi

I continue to struggle with sending music from my B2 to s Sonos stereo pair of speakers.  I can easily send music to my other two Sonos speakers which are not paired but sending to the stereo pair of speakers (the ones I used most often) is really unreliable and intermittent.  I have good days and bad days - like much else!

Does anyone have any useful tips.  Sometimes turning the speakers on and off works, sometimes doing the same with the B2.

Many thanks
Tim

Hi Tim,

I think I too am having this problem (it was not present in an earlier B2 software version but I can not remember which date) and for clarity My Sonos "system" is using the S1 version.

Hi Fred

I am glad I am not alone.  I am using the S2 version.

Hi Tim and Fred,

Are the 'other' speakers grouped with the stereo pair or are you having issues playing to the 'stereo pair' only?

Hi Paul
My Sonos (S1) system looks like this from the Sonos end
a.JPG
There are 3 Sonos One speakers in the system the "Living Room" comprises a stereo paired set
a.JPG
and "Office" is a stand alone Sonos One (with Alexa).
a.JPG

From the B2 end, clicking on the Sonos button  I see
Brennan Speakers
Office
Living Room

As selectable options.

MY PROBLEM
If I select "Living Room" from the B2 and play a CD Track, then I get a stereo sound for that track coming out of the paired speakers OK.
If I now press the pause button on the B2 UI the UI looks like this
a.JPG
BUT the Music continues to play until the end of the track AND the B2 controls ease to work for "Living Room".
If I restart the Web UI and go back to clicking the Sonos button I get this
a.JPG
NOTE that "Living Room" is greyed out and hovering the cursor over it causes a red "no entry" circle to appear.

Hope this helps

Hi Paul

I am afraid that I do not have Fred's skills with the screen shots but can confirm that I have one sonos speaker in a bedroom, one in the kitchen and a stereo pair in the study.  I only have problems with the stereo pair in the study.  None of my speakers are "Grouped."  Not grouped with the stereo pair or otherwise.

Best

Hi All

Martin here  I've logged this problem.

It would help me a lot if someone could post step by step instructions (bullet points) how to recreate the problem. (apologies if it has been posted already)

Assume I know nothing and take me through the steps that will allow me to hear for myself.

Also it would be useful to know if other owners have managed to get that setup to work. (That would point to a more analogue problem like Wifi signal rather than a hard software fault).

Hi Martin

I haven't tried on my stereo pair set up.but will test this evening

I have playbar, 2 surrounds and a sub set up.as a room

Brennan sees this correctly each unit has its own IP address

If it work correctly the music is.sendng to the IP.of the playbar

When playing sometimes the screen showing now playing goes blanks.then reappears

Irandomly if I try to change a song it does not play looking at debug the song has been sent to the sub ip address

My b2's are wired to switches or a mesh satellite  rather than wireless

Will.post a debug next time it happens later on

I also opened a case with sonos to check no errors in sonosnet

I have  some players wired they so use the sonosnet network

Hi Martin, All
I sent info on my problems to Paul which I'm sure he passed on, I can post here if you want.
What I would like others to try is does playing radio via  b2 play on all speakers. It does on mine but I cannot play music on all speakers without break ups happening, wondering if anyone else has this symptom.
Thanks
PK

Hi Martin,

I will try and do this for you - it will take a little planning first.

Tested with stereo pair similar happens select room and song starts playing to an IP address which is one side of the pair

After a while title and art disappear song continues volume only still works but not correctly

Try and play another song and this is sent to the other IP on the pair and dors not play

As in the surround set up loses focus on primary object I think

Different IPS show in debug

Tested again after forget and rescan
Queue song plays ok
Change song 3 times ok
Alter volume and stop start
Then disappears and next song goes to other IP address

Hope that helps

Hi Martin,

Well I upgraded to the latest (see below) from the 20th Jan version and I am pleased to say that the problem I was encountering with the Sonos Stereo Pared speakers is no longer present.
B2 info.JPG
The Sonos Problem (when pausing and restarting the Stereo pair) is now no longer a problem!
I am pleased to say that I can have my Brennan connected speakers, the Sonos in the Office and Sonos pair in the Living room all playing different music and all controllable from the B2's Web UI as before.
The only point to note is that the response to changes (eg play/pause) to the stereo pair is a tad laggy (but it does catch up).

Fred's experience is really interesting.  I suppose "laggy" also describes my experience with a stereo pair of Sonos SL speakers.  I too am on the latest software but I find it incredibly laggy and very patchy, but only with the stereo pair.   I often find that  it works and then the album art and track information disappear from the B2 now playing panel.  However, the B2 still indicates that the Sonos is playing.  You then have to wait and hope the album art and playing information re-appear - that is where it is really patchy.

Sorry, I should have added that when the album art and track playing information dis-appear from the B2 now playing panel you can no longer control the music or play anything else until it re-appears.  The music carries on.

Hi Tim

I have the same as stated when blank if you open debug and try and send music you will note it's the other half of the speaker set up address used ..ug works again when now playing comes back

Thanks John, hopefully Martin will have a fix.  I notice that when it goes blank you can still control the volume but nothing else.  I wonder why it then comes and goes - why it is so patchy?

Hi All,

Thank you for the additional info.

I wonder if 'stereo pair' is a special case. I'm thinking that the music needs splitting into L and R channels and then synced so the channels play at the same time. Bet this takes extra processing at the Sonos end....

I'll pass your findings to Martin B.

Hi updated to Jan 26 software as others have seen an improvement,  alas no improvement for me in fact the main speaker I want to play has got worse today, 3 or 4  break ups in last hour, previously been ok for last week or so.

The software update has made no difference to my experience with the Sonos stereo pair issue, it remains patchy and laggy.
