Hi,

I wanted to use the multi AOI feature of my IDS camera to limit transfer of the image data to a few small regions of interest. I created a configuration file in the uEye Cockpit software but Bonsai's uEye node doesn't run with that configuration file selected and throws an error: 'uEye operation failed: NOT_SUPPORTED'

is there something I can do about that?

Hi Johannes,

Can you tell us your camera model? According to their docs, you need different driver versions for different models and the uEye version used in Bonsai may be too old for your specific model.

Thanks for the Reference!
The camera model is IDS UI-337xCP-NIR (currently, IDS sells Rev 2 but my model is the old version)
The multi AOI mode works fine in the IDS uEYE software. is it possible that uEYE and Bonsai use different versions of the driver?
The IDS camera manager indicates I am using USB Kernel Driver 4.80.10.0
Also, I found a uEyeDotNet.dll 1.06.3.0

Yes, this is my impression.

If you want to try a quick workaround, you can try replacing the uEyeDotNet.dll inside the Bonsai packages directory (in the install folder) with the updated version and see if it works.

Otherwise I can check later which version I am using in the package.

I copied uEyeDotNet.dll 1.06.3.0 into the bonsai packages directory and renamed the existing uEyeDotNet.dll 1.06.1.0
The error is still the same.

I am using the 'pre-release' IDS bonsai package version 2.0.0 (alpha)
is that the most recent version?

I also tried updating the IDS software and drivers to version 4.9 (previously 4.8)
Now, there is uEyeDotNet.dll 1.08.1.0 which I also copied into the Bonsai folder but still no luck.

Ok, I will try to debug this with our IDS, assuming it supports multiple AOI functionality. Will let you know if I learn anything.

Hi,

can you judge if this is likely a small fix that needs to be made or if AOI support is unlikely to happen in the near future?
Do you have experience with AOIs on cameras other than IDS? I also have point grey cameras with the same cmv4000 chip but so far I didn't see point grey software to support reading out AOIs only.

Hi Johannes,

I have finally managed to get my hands on an IDS camera with AOI support, and I'm happy to report that this issue is now fixed. I have just pushed a new patch release of the uEye package that should work with multiple AOIs.

It was indeed a very small fix, I was trying to set the AOI explicitly but it turns out you don't even need to do it (indeed you should NOT do it) in the later versions, the driver takes care of everything.

Hope this helps.
