Just wondering.

Are there pipelines in TSO-REXX.?

Has anybody written a pipeline function for use in TSO/REXX.?

If there are not, why can't we have them?

Thank you.

On CMSPIP-L, some people claim that CMS/TSO Pipelines is available for TSO.

Others claim that IBM says they've never heard of such a product.

z/OS Unix System Services provides standard POSIX pipes.

What's a "pipeline"? What's your requirement?

Yes, as part of the Sysplex management product called BatchPipes,
product ID 5655-D45. It doesn't come cheap, and it's kind of hard to
track down current support information--but I can see that there are
APARs currently in the works for that product, so it's still around.

I'm sorry. Brain check.
I meant "pipes" like in cms or netview pipes.

Well PIPELINEs aren't really part of REXX. PIPELINEs can be used
standalone on CMS and TSO. They can also integrate with REXX.

What, you mean a bit like this...
PIPE here is a copy of the original load module from Denmark, had it for years!
I no longer use CMS sadly but as far as I'm concerned, PIPE should be integrated into TSO or z/OS, whatever, as it is soooooooooo powerful.
(BTW: '!' is probably '|' on your CP)
ADDRESS LINK ,
"PIPE TSO LISTC LVL("USERID()")",
"! DROP 6 ",
"! SORT ",
"! STEM DIR. "
DO m = 1 TO dir.0
IF( WORD(dir.m,1) = "NONVSAM" )THEN SAY WORD(dir.m,3)
END

Steve:

That's exactly what I meant.
Thank you.

Then it's not available in tso, right?

now, I wonder why not.

One has to request the module from IBM Denmark as I recall.

Hi Sergio,

we also have BatchPipeWorks in use here - with incredible good performance.
It was bought/implemented here before i cam into this company.
A discussion about ordering can be found here:
http://groups.google.com/group/bit.listserv.tsorexx/browse_thread/thread/bee433091655f2d1

If it is used enough it saves you $$$ of MIPS - but it is not cheap to buy
as i heard.
Regards Norbert
